"Overcoming Offense" Part 3
Last week I talked about the seriousness of not forgiving according to scripture. I also talked
about forgiveness being a choice not a feeling. If you waited to feel like forgiving, before you
actually did, you would probably not ever forgive. Time does not heal wounds, truth mixed with
love does. Now let’s look at another scripture concerning un-forgiveness.
Matt 18:33-35 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had
pity on you?' 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should
pay all that was due to him. 35 "So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from
his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses." NKJV
This scripture spells out very clearly the consequences of un-forgiveness. We must forgive or
we won’t be forgiven. In the parable that Jesus spoke: The master was very angry at the
servant because after he was forgiven of a major debt, those that owed the servant money, he
had no mercy on. Therefore his master turned him over to the torturers until his whole dept
was paid. This of course is a story to show the truth about un-forgiveness. If we don’t forgive,
we won’t be forgiven. Having said that let me restate the strategy of how to forgive. You must
first choose to forgive from the heart. After you’ve made the choice, pray that the Lord will
bless that person. Then every time you find yourself meditating on the offence pray for them!
This will break the thoughts and ultimately bring you to the place of total peace! If they are
cursing you and or your ministry, this is witchcraft and can only be broken if you bless those
who curse you.
Matt 5:44-45 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those
who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may
be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and
sends rain on the just and on the unjust. NKJV
